There are always questions when it comes to looking for a photographer who will be the best fit for your photo session needs, so I wanted to share some of the most Frequently Asked Questions that I hear from clients and answer them all in one spot!

Do you deliver every image you capture?
No. I usually shoot at least 10x the number of images that I guarantee a client. I narrow them down, getting rid of blurry images and blinking eyes.
Do you edit/retouch your images?
Yes and No. All images are color corrected and basic retouching such as small blemish correction and flyaway hairs are included. Significant retouching such as object removal, head swaps and body slimming can be done for an additional fee.
Do you provide Black & White Images?
Yes, we determine which images would look best in black and white. Most are also delivered in color. Every once in a while an image does not look good in color and will only be delivered in black and white.
May I have the RAW files from my session?
No – In the same way that you wouldn’t want a chef to serve you an unfinished meal, you won’t find photographers offering you the unedited RAW files from your photo session.
What are my rights to the images from my session?
You are able to reproduce your purchased digital images from your photography package for personal use, and for limited distribution to family and friends only. Images are not permitted to be altered in any way. This includes, but is not limited to utilizing any photo editing software or even adding filters on web uploads.
When do we receive our images and how do we get them?
I guarantee images to be delivered within 3 weeks of the session although they are frequently delivered much sooner. The images are sent to you through an online gallery delivered via e-mail. You can then download them through that gallery.
Where should I print my images?
Kate Martin Photography offers printing through a professional quality lab. If you would prefer to print on your own, I would recommend Mpix.com. Most common locations such as drugstores and big box stores do not maintain the integrity of the images.
What equipment do you use?
I shoot with professional Nikon full frame cameras with both prime and zoom lenses.
How long have you been in business?
I began my business in the summer of 2015 after the birth of my first child. I wanted to be able to make an income yet at the same time be home to raise my daughter.
Do you travel?
Yes – up to 50 miles from my address is included in the session price. After that, traveling fees are incurred and will be included on the client’s invoice.
What should we wear for our session?
I provide a style guide with ideas for what to wear, accessorizing, coordinating, etc. once you have booked a session!
Where do you photograph your sessions?
I am happy to shoot pretty much anywhere that you would like to have your session. If there is a permit required, the client is expected to pay it. I have a decent collection of fabulous locations to shoot at.
When do you photograph sessions and how long do sessions take?
I love to shoot around “golden hour,” which is about 2 hours before sunset. Unless your package includes a specific set of times, there is no specific timeframe. Sometimes a session can take an entire hour, but sometimes we can be done with a full session with a fabulous 100 image gallery in less than a half-hour. It all depends on the client and the feel that you are going for.
Are you insured and how do you protect the images from my session?
I am insured and carry liability insurance. RAW files are stored on a memory card until images delivered and on my computer for 1 year. Edited images will be held on my computer for 1 year and on an external hard drive and online gallery for 2 years.
