There are some engagement sessions that just hit differently, and this Whispering Oaks Vineyard engagement was definitely one of them. Maybe it was the absolutely perfect sunlight, the crisp cool air, or the way Karis and Mikey couldn’t stop laughing together. Or maybe—just maybe—it was the fact that I’m old enough to have a niece getting married, and I’m still trying to process that reality.

The Perfect Evening at Whispering Oaks Vineyard

Whispering Oaks Vineyard gave us the most breathtaking setting for Karis and Mikey’s session. The rolling hills, the bare winter trees, and the fallen leaves crunched beneath our feet. It set the scene for something straight out of a love story. We ran through the trees, soaked in the golden light, and captured moments that were every bit as beautiful as the two of them.

Holding Back the Tears

But let’s be real—while Karis and Mikey were the true stars of the show, the real challenge here was me. I was just trying to hold it together. Because, in my mind, Karis is still that bright-eyed little girl standing in her crib, grinning at me like she already had me wrapped around her tiny finger. How Am I Supposed to Photograph a Wedding While Crying?

Fast forward 23 years, and here we are, photographing her Whispering Oaks Vineyard engagement and gearing up for her wedding this fall. I already know I’ll be a puddle of emotions when she walks down the aisle to Mikey. Will I be able to capture those “I dos” without completely losing it? We’ll see. Place your bets now.
